Description: A One-Day Symposium on Technology and Trafficking is being organized on 20th March 2018 at IIIT-Bangalore.

One Day Symposium on Technology and Trafficking was organized in collaboration with Justice and Care on 20th March 2018. Technology can and is being used to accelerate the reach and diversify modes of trafficking with increased challenges for prevention, investigation or prosecution. Therefore, the need is to understand its usage by criminal networks and to build capacity of society and institutions to also deploy technology as a solution to effectively combat trafficking. The Objective of the symposium was to Raise awareness about the issue of trafficking and particularly the use of technology by the perpetrators as well as those fighting the issue and brainstorm about Devising innovative technological solutions that could be implemented to help with prevention, prosecution and protection in the trafficking sector.

CITAPP at IIIT Bangalore is an interdisciplinary think-tank set-up to focus on the policy challenges and the organizational demands made by technological innovation. Of particular interest to the Centre is how technological advances, along with institutional changes that harness the legitimacy and the powers of bureaucracies and market, address the needs of underserved communities.
